Yes, We Have No Photos

I have been staying at my parents for the past week, and my camera is at home, so no photos. I have been knitting though. Although I did do some knitting on an unfinished project from the project basket (a shawl in koigu KPPM merino, "old shale" pattern), I gave in to temptation and started a pair of socks with the Cascade fixation I bought from the Knit Shop. That project is up to the foot of sock no. 1. Then, the yarn for my mother's sweater finally arrived from Patternworks. So I dropped everything else and began work on the back and have completed about eight inchs. Gotta get that camera. Such a boring post.

In other news, I have now been on the South Beach Diet for five long days. I am very, very tired of green salads, which I usually enjoy. Just too much of a good thing. I have lost 3 pounds. As I have about 60+ to lose, it doesn't seem like much. After my husband left me three years ago, my coping mechanisms have not been the best. Like comfort food and wine. Not to mention chocolate. So here I am 60 pounds later and I look awful. I used to be pretty. But the time has come to finally do something about my weight. When I get down about 30 pounds, I'll go back to yoga class, which I loved. When you have 60 extra pounds, mostly around your torso, it is difficult to bend. Besides, as a fat person in yoga class I would be very conspicous, and it would bother me. But I really need the strength and flexibility I had when I took yoga. My Mom and I are doing this together and she is cooking all the meals and packing my lunches and snacks. She is wonderful!

Must end here, I'm at work and need to put the nose back to the grindstone.

Doldrums

Lordy, but it hot and humid again. Not much knitting going on. I finished felting a tote bag. I'll photograph it after I sew the straps and button on it. I'm trying to limit myself to working on unfinished projects, but they are all wool and I'm not motivated to do much with them. Patternworks still has not sent the Marco Polo yarn I need to knit my mother's sweater. It is still backordered. I called them yesterday to see if they had shipped it yet, but alas, they still haven't received it from the manufacturer. It was scheduled to arrive on June 30. I did visit the LYS yesterday to browse for a good button for the felted bag. While was there I decided to buy Rowan 37. After all, I couldn't leave with just one button! So I have that to drool over this weekend.

Work has been the pits this week. And it looks like I'll have to come in tomorrow to finish some stuff I didn't get to today. Sigh.

Went to the baseball game last night. My Indians lost 1-0 to the Chicago White Sox. Bah.

I just invited myself to my parent's house for dinner tonight. They have air conditioning! Yeah! And Mom has a well stock wine rack, too. And I need a hug.

Lollipops

Doggone. I thought I had figured out how to download multiple pictures to a post, but it appears that I now have five separate posts. I am defintely blog-challenged. Anyway...I knit these socks last week in between finishing off Deli. The yarn is Opal Lollipop shade 1009 and they were knit on US 1 needles.

Here she is! I visited another yarn shop about 30 minutes from home, and lo and behold, they not only had a ball of apple green Cashcotton DK, but even the same dye lot! So Deli got her ties and they match perfectly. She's had a bath and is blocked. Laid out flat like that, the sweater looks like it would fit an elephant. But it's actually a size small for my daughter, who wears size 6. The width is so the sweater will drape and swing. If you look at the shoulders, you can see it is a small size. I probably won't see her for a few weeks, as she lives in eastern Maryland, and I live in Ohio. When I do, I'll get her to pose for a picture.

I do like to knit socks! The visit to the Knit Shop, where I bought the yarn to finish Deli was well worth the drive. They had tons of really beautiful yarn. Although I was very tempted, I reminded myself of my basket of unfinished projects waiting for me to pick them up and knit them. But I simply couldn't help myself when it comes to sock yarn. Those little yarn skeins whisper, "Take me home, you'll only need two of us". And so, these found their way into the stash. I've never used either of these yarns, so I get to try something new. I have seen a couple of nice examples of the Broad Ripple Sock knit in Cascade Fixation, and I like that pattern, I've knit it before in sock wool. It would be fun to try that. First I have to finish the pair of socks I already have on the needles. And then, I promised my Mom I would knit her a striped T shirt sweater she saw in the Patternworks catalogue. I'm still waiting for Patternworks to ship the yarn though. We shall see.

London

I'm so saddened by what is happening in London. Right away I thought of all the UK knitbloggers. I'm hoping that the London knitbloggers will post so that we'll know they are ok.
